| Give a Book is a UK tax exempt charity. It was set up in memory of writer and playwright Simon Gray who loved to read and to share his reading. We facilitate the gift of books to selected charities. How it works: Give a Book sources new books at cost price; we put a personalised bookplate into each book, then package and post the books to our selected charities. Every donation you make buys and distributes a book to someone who - for differing reasons - might need one. Every £5.00 donation Gives a Book. Ways to Give: 1. Give a Donation: we work closely with the charities to give the books that matter to them most. To make a donation, please click here. 2. Choose Books: you can select which books to give from our list. Examples of what the gift can do: just £25 (= 5 copies of a book) starts a reading community in Maggie’s Centres or Age UK; £75 (= 15 books) Gives a Book to an entire First Story reading group. To select a book or books to give, click here. 3. Give to a Child: Give a Book is now working with Volunteer Reading Help to give books to children who struggle with literacy. To give books to these children click here. 4. Become a Friend of Give a Book: for as little as £5 per month you can become a Friend of Give a Book and get regular updates, invitations to events, and information. Download the pdf form to fill in and return here. Give a Book is a new project, evolving all the time. We hope to include more charities and wider locations as we grow. We welcome your questions and feedback. Please contact us through info@giveabook.org.uk. |
