We’re delighted to announce a new partnership–with Community Foster Care, the independent foster care agency, based in Staunton. Dozens of children in care in Gloucestershire are about to get a gift of their favourite book.
“Whilst our foster carers do buy books for children placed with them, it’s noticeable that when children are placed in foster care, most don’t arrive with one in their suitcase,” said Chris Cawkwell, Registered Manager for CFC.
“Thanks to this new partnership, we can do something to help remedy that.
“Our children who are with foster carers all over the county were asked to name their favourite subject and came up with everything from dinosaurs to an Oxford dictionary. It was fantastic when the books arrived – the children are chuffed to bits.”
Give a Book has pledged to offer each child placed in foster care with Community Foster Care a book which represents their preferences and educational achievement level.
