We are pleased to have started a new collaboration with Storybook Mums. This is the scheme that runs in a number of prisons whereby mums inside (and dads) record a story for their children.
Give a Book is giving books to go with these recordings.
They have told us: Some mums inside have relatives who can buy, and are happy to buy, the books on the outside, but that is not the case for everyone. Having a book to give means that a child will get a book of their own to keep and follow with the sound of mum’s voice leading. Quite a few of the mums choosing to read a story have not read to their children before or for a long time, so it’s great to be able to help the mums bring the gift of reading to their families.
