Last week saw the start of the artist workshop sessions at Heathmere Primary with the wonderful Monique Jivram from The House of Illustration. A year 3 class was introduced to Monique and were really enthusiastic about the project. They looked at maps and discussed the route to Roehampton library with the children having plenty of opportunity to get involved and add in features or points of interest on the route. Lots of fun!
The sessions are going to be held weekly over the next 3 weeks culminating in an actual design of a treasure trail postcard of the route from the Little Free Library at the school to the big free library at Roehampton! These postcards are going to be placed in the little free library as part of the project to encourage more local use of the fantastic community resources at the local library as well as to encourage more reading for pleasure!
