 David Attenborough

Treasure Island, by Robert Louis Stevenson

"If you are looking for a rollicking adventure story, I know few better than Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson. I first read when I was about 12 and it still seems to me to be full of splendidly convincing characters who are engaged in all kinds of exciting adventures."

Alice's Adventures In Wonderland, by Lewis Carroll

"It has to be Alice in Wonderland. I read it again recently and I thought, it’s still the best story in the world! I love magic realism and that’s what I loved as a kid. It stirred me, the marriage between a real and magic world, although at the time I didn’t know why. And the characters are just extraordinary; brilliant. I go to fancy dress parties as The Mad Hatter. Lewis Carroll, his influence lives on!"

This wonderful book brings back many happy memories of the hours my sister and I spent galloping over the moors with Moorland Mousie and his friends – inspired by the magical plates by Lionel Edwards.
